Who Founded Takoma Records?
B.) John Fahey
John Fahey founded Takoma with the help of Ed Denson. The Takoma story began in 1959 in the Washington, DC suburb of Takoma Park, Maryland when Fahey borrowed $300 and pressed 100 copies of his now-legendary Blind Joe Death. By 1963 Fahey and Denson had moved to California. Takoma's roster of musicians included Leo Kottke, Peter Lang, Mike Auldridge, Robbie Basho, and Bukka White. In 1979 Fahey sold Takoma to Chrysalis Records... Takoma's bestselling album? Just happened to be Leo Kottke's 6 and 12-String Guitar released in 1969.
