This week’s artist was brought to my attention by a previous featured artist on Acoustic Tuesday and I am so glad I fell down this rabbit hole.
His voice has a character that makes your head snap back, ears perk up, and every hair on the back of your neck stand on end.
Tyler Childers is someone whom was introduced to me via Colter Wall’s latest album (He happens to sing on the song Fraulien). In addition to being the guest vocal on that album many Acoustic Tuesday viewers told me about him so I had to do the full deep dive and I am so happy I did.
Tyler has a knack for writing wonderfully descriptive songs and his voice delivers them in such a way that leaves you wanting more and more. His voice seems to be a cross between classic country and traditional bluegrass, but I can’t say he sounds like anyone except… well… Tyler Childers.
The standout tune for me is Purgatory off of his newest album of the same name as well as the tune that closes the album, entitled, Lady May. If you dig heartfelt song delivery with a voice that has a bit of twang you will not be disappointed with Tyler’s newest album… or his older one for that matter.
What Guitar Does Tyler Childers Play?
Tyler Childers primarily plays a 2008 Martin HD-28 acoustic guitar. However, his backup guitar is the New Martin OOO-15SM.
