Kevin Kopp of Kopp guitars is located very near the home of Acoustic Life Studios, here in Bozeman, MT. Kevin moved out to Bozeman in 1992 to follow a job offering at Gibson Acoustic Guitars. Upon his arrival, he very quickly worked up the ladder and found himself in the custom shop alongside famed luthiers John Walker and Ren Ferguson. At the Gibson custom shop, he learned some incredibly valuable lessons but soon wanted more.
Some years after starting at Gibson, Kevin went out on his own to begin a repair business. Business was going great and Kevin was getting a chance to spend some time with truly inspiring vintage instruments. After getting invaluable hands-on experience with some of the most sought-after vintage instruments Kevin was no doubt inspired and boldly took his next step.
Kevin began developing his very own line of high-end, boutique acoustic guitars. Kevin drew from his influences at Gibson but elevated his craft to a much higher level. He paid extreme attention to detail and made improvements on classic designs. In looking at Kevin’s lineup of models it is no doubt that he is using iconic Gibson guitars as a base, but by no means are these just “Gibson Copies” these are unique acoustic beasts all their own.
