What I’m listening to this week will harken back to an earlier time with sweet sister harmony and inspiring song selection.
These gals sing with such precise harmony and phrasing it will send chills up your spine. They can surely be soft and sensitive when the song demands, but if they need to be gritty and raw they have no problem conjuring those sonic beasts as well.
The Secret Sisters, Laura and Lydia Rogers, are quite simply queens of harmony. These two sing in such a way that captivates and nearly hypnotizes the listener. The song selections across their entire discography run the spectrum of slow emotional ballads and waltzes to up-tempo gritty tunes that will quicken your pulse.
The ironic thing about these two is that after their second album hit they were dropped from their label due to the album not performing as well as predicted. I’ll just say right now that album (Put Your Needle Down) is simply amazing and extremely fun to listen to.
But what happened next is some next level musical magic.
After they were dropped the Sisters were both emotionally and financially worn out. They were very close to starting to clean houses to pay their bills and make a living, when all of a sudden the stars aligned.
Laura and Lydia got connected with Brandi Carlisle through a Pledge Music campaign, and just like that they found someone who would produce their newest album (You Don’t Own Me Anymore) and prove to be their guide into their newest musical chapter.
I invite you to take a musical walk through their entire discography. you will be pleased with every twist and turn that comes your way.
