Don’t make the same mistake I made when I bought my first guitar at 19 years old! By asking yourself 5 simple questions when purchasing a guitar, you can save yourself TONS of time and money.
In today’s Acoustic Tuesday at Home episode, I have three great stories to share with you. The first one involves HEAVY buyer’s remorse. The second and third stories apply concepts in the 5 steps to avoid buyer’s remorse to show how to successfully find your dream guitar.
In addition, I’ll take some time to update you on the homefront. There’s been a TON going on…between the practice contractions and a skunk roaming around in the backyard, it’s been a LONG week.
As always, you can catch Acoustic Tuesday at 10 am every Tuesday in these four places:
Holy Cow Tony, you are one longwinded SOB. It took you twenty minutes to complete your list of 5 steps. I didn’t finish the last 10 minutes, I could not imagine getting anything worthwhile.
Are you whining?
Blessings for your family and new son!
Tony, you asked who our favorite guitar store and salesperson are. W/O a doubt for me that would be Musicians Friend Musical Instruments and the most fantastic William (Bill) Cluff, who I have dealt with for quite a few years. Bill was and is a professional Guitarist with extensive knowledge to help anyone on their guitar journey. And MF is great to deal with too. You’re never “stuck” with a guitar from them whether it be you found a flaw in it, or it didn’t fit your expectations. Very nice people to deal with, and the commercial ends here.
Tony, you asked us to name our favorite music store and salesperson. My favorite store may surprise you. It’s the on-line Musicians Friend Musical Instruments. And, my favorite salesperson is William (Bill) Cluff. Bill was and is a professional musician/guitarist and can help any level musician. I have dealt with him for years and he has been a huge help to me. If you want to get a hold of Bill his extension is 2556 @ musiciansfriend.com. I know this sounds like a commercial but it’s not.
Hey Tony. Unlike Paul, I really enjoy your accoustic Tuesday show. We spend so much of our lives these days in a hurry and in a rush , it’s nice to slow down a little and just have a good old fashioned conversation. I can always relate to the subject of your program. Keep up the good work and thanks
Hello Tony,
First off congratulations on the new baby coming. I am a long time fan of acoustic Tuesday. Today when you talked about buyers remorse I thought I’d share my story. Not really remorse but I just was not ready to have a guitar made, I just didn’t know what I really wanted.
I started playing guitar at 64. I came home one day and my wife purchased a guitar as a retirement gift. Not very expensive on but it got me started. I found a local teacher and just so happens he builds guitars. After a few lessons I asked if he had time to build a guitar for me. He said he didn’t have time as he has a few builds in process. Some folks said wait awhile, you don’t even know if you will stick with it. Deep in my soul I knew I would. So I looked around trying many guitars and I purchased a Martin. Great guitar but I just wanted a guitar the way I wanted it. More looks then constructions because my limited knowledge . A month or so later the teacher says I have some time freed up if you want me to build you one. Just making the Martin purchase I wasn’t sure but this stage of my life this my be my last chance for a custom build, or that’s what I told the bride. I want to say the guy building this guitar is a craftsman,I totally trust him and he gave me just what I asked for. I am happy with this guitar but I wish I knew more. There are two downsides to this guitar . One is the neck profile, it’s way to thick. I had tried several and went with the thicker neck, why I’m not sure. Two, is no cutaway. At that time I never dreamed I would be able to play up and down the neck. Not great but I can.😜. Honestly I am happy with this build ,it sounds good but it’s just not the right fit. If I ever get in a position where I can have another custom build I will be more educated, thanks to your show.
Again , best wishes with the new arrival. This one may be louder than any guitar you own! 🤪
Thanks for what you share.

Prob expensive but might be worth getting a different neck installed if it makes you happier/less regretfull
Hi Tony –
Are you highlighting your hair? Looks a little blonde, LOL… Either way, congrats on the baby boy and keep up the good work!
