#4 Clean Up Your Guitar Chords
When you’re playing a guitar chord it either sounds good or… not so good. You may find it surprising that getting your chords to sound nice and clear may only take the slightest adjustment. So, in this lesson, I’ll share with you a way to make your chords leaner, meaner, and cleaner.
#3 What’s On the Turntable This Week?
This week’s featured acoustic artist is Mile Twelve. A great blend of both old and new bluegrass, Acoustic Tuesday viewer and Tony’s Acoustic Challenge member Shawn G. says this group is so fresh and contains just a bunch of virtuosity.
#2 Martin’s Newly Designed SP Strings
Here we are for Round 2 of my dive into Martin’s newly designed lineup of strings. I put these bad boys on my Thompson, and although I can’t really say I notice a difference between the old and the new strings, there is a little bit of a magical presence that makes me enjoy what I’m hearing. What do you think?
#1 Bluegrass Journey: A Documentary
This documentary is a bit dated, but… the deep tie and appreciation of the music and culture of bluegrass are timeless. It runs deep and is a treat to see and especially experience.
davesg, Tifton, GA. #you know you’re a guitar geek when, a storm knocks down several trees in your neighborhood, and your first thought is,I wonder how many guitars could be made from that?
Hea guys another good one. Nice jersey Tony! [GO LIGHTNING] See you on TAC lesson.
Oh yes Tony you most certainly can and do “waste “ a bit of bourbon, scotch, etc but only the good stuff in honor of lost friends or in this case, lost, smashed beyond all belief or repair, guitars. In this particular case a piece of Americana and guitardom. Ash (or mahogany) to ashes, dust to sawdust, May she rest in piece(s). 😉 Keep playing.
The Teluride 2003 documentary is something you might like to watch, i have several times.
it is a 1953or 1954 chevy
Thank you. I have been watching acoustic Tuesday since I think around episode 42. Shout out from Walnut Grove, Missouri. I thought that I would relay that just tonight I installed some Martin Authentic Acoustic Lifespan 2.0 on my 1970 ish Takamine F-385 12-string. They are still stretching so I’ll let you know how I like them. Also, I would like to thank you for the artist introductions. Last episode AT82 where you introduced Molly Tuttle, amazing. I love her. Also Muriel Anderson, Calum Graham et. at. amazing!!! If I could be so brash as to maybe make a suggestion or actually more of a request…..could we see a jam session? Maybe ala “At home with Daryl”. Daryl Hall had a short lived show where various musicians would get together at his house and they would play together and each chile. “Good times”.
Take care and guitar geeks unite,
Tony
# you know you are a guitar geek when your finger picks get caught in the garbage disposal – do l pull the whole thing apart to get the picks or never wash dishes again
Hi Tony, thanks for show #83,loved it.the blue Grass band you introduced are great.the mile twelve.loved it.went to guitar center center last week and saw my teacher, who gives a complimentary class monthly for adults.it was held in the guitar room, with thousands of beautiful acuastic guitars.so he said pick one so he can start the class,i picked a beautiful fender.what a beautiful sound,so clear and perfect proportion size for me.i fell in love with this mini fender.i am mentioning this because it is related to your show#83.i had no hard time with a clear sound.a really awesome acuastic.they have really beautiful guitars, there.anyway, thanks see you at #84.!! PS I went to a bluegrass recital this weekend.they were amazing.i love this music alot.he was playing the dulcimer.a beautiful instrument.from all parts of the world.a very common guitar in South America.!!😂💡👍
you know you’re a guitar geek when you’re watching an artist perform on tv and you get upset because they only show the artist’s face instead of close ups of their guitar.
Question: Ae you guys having a festival like last June or when ever it was, this year!!
OMG, Tony has a Thompson guitar too, man am I stoked for you man !
francophone = a french speaking person.
Tony, two artists to put on rotation.
John Smith (UK) artist and session guitarist for Lisa Hannigan. His new album Hummingbird is fabulous.
Pumpkinbread: Courtney Hartman just produces their latest project. Beautiful harmonies and a fiddle to die for.
Just FYI. I. Claudia M, started you guys on you know you are a guitar geek when. ( started w thumb pics)
Hey Tony,
The Martin Authentic Acoustic Lifespan 2.0 strings sound just fine on the old Takamine 12-string. “Nothing really magical happened, just sound fresh”. On another note…in the over 50 years that I have played guitar I have never heard of hammerclaw style guitar playing. I guess that’s because I mostly play classic rock. The most country I play is maybe Crosby, Stills and Nash. Could you present in an episode of AT how to do that style? I have been trying and it mostly sound like a waltz or a polka. I would like it very much.
Thank you and take care
Tony
