#4 Practicing VS Rehearsing On Acoustic Guitar
In this episode, I talk about the expectations we set for ourselves. Part of having fun as a guitar player is managing your expectations. I will cover the differences between learning, practicing and rehearsing. Set your intentions for these, and be happier with the outcomes!

#3 What’s On the Turntable This Week?
This week’s featured acoustic artist is a local MT band who I have been wanting to feature for quite some time. I have been listening to them since their start. They are a great group of guys, wonderful musicians. They started around 2009 and are going strong, making incredible music. What I love about this band is that their arrangements are intricate. They are amazing to listen to, kind of like if the Beatles were in a bluegrass band.

#2 LR Baggs Lyric Pickup Review
This pickup system produces beautiful tone. What I love about this system is that it uses this true mic technology, which allows you to play it aggressively without giving you an odd tone. It sounds so pure and is super feedback resistant. You’re going to want to listen to the tone it produces!

#1 LJ Williams Guitar Review
Sometimes we find ourselves going down an online rabbit hole of pictures of guitars. Well, last weekend I found myself venturing down what turned out to be a very fruitful rabbit hole. The picture that caught my eye was a striking tonewood! It looked 3D, holographic-like. I was stunned. It lead me to a new luthier that I had not heard of….check it out.

Greetings from Oregon.
Medford, Oregon here….
Good morning from Atlanta Tx…….
Great explanation of learning, practice and rehearsal. I think looking at it that way will allow me to make much better use of my guitar playing time. Cheers! (lifting glass of imaginary scotch — sorry Noah, I’m all out of imaginary bourbon)
Love the lesson portion of AT! You guys do a great job with this show and I never miss an episode. If I do I catch the replays!….I really look forward to Tuesday Mornings. Wish it was live! thanks
Hi from Colorado Springs.
#smallwin…… found a Fender Acoustasonic 30 amp at a great price! Looking forward to using it. Jeff W

#SMALLWIN, I recently put Santa Cruz Parabolic Tension Strings on my 2001 Taylor 810. No more Elixir’s for me…. I’m a convert! Nat Miller, Medford, OR
Paul from Superior, WI
Love your show! It gives me the drive to keep learning every week.
When you present a link to go to or info like the trivia question, you should ad text to the video. It’s easy to do. You talk fast, and that would help to understand what you are presenting and help in the audience being able to respond.
You stated, “You want us to check them out.” referring to the group you shared with us. You may want to state, instead, “I encourage you to check them out.” More professional and not as blunt for the audience.
Listening from Long Island, New York, nice show guys
Morning from the North Carolina Mountains.
Yeah, did that too….ordered the Lyric after listening to Ricky Skaggs. It worked for about two weeks and sounded pretty good for the first week or so. Then it stopped working. I sent it back to LR Baggs and they sent me a replacement. Due to the delay in getting it, I installed a K&K Pure Mini and I’m very happy with that ….. plus no battery! Tried the K&K Twin Spot on another guitar and not as good of results. However, I am very happy with the Pure Mini! Had a bad experience with a battery leak and damage from a well know battery company. They did send a check but it didn’t cover all the damage and down time. I will say that the Lyric does deliver a more realistic acoustic sound.
Thanks Tony & Noah for another good Tuesday morning show. Needed to hear the learning/practice/rehearsal conversation. Too often I feel I have hit the wall and the wall keeps moving forward; but I am not giving up.
Best from Bethel, Alaska (+28 degrees this morning).
#askmatt – Looking at say spruce tops there are variations in color within the top…sometimes striking variations. Is this a sap wood vs. heart wood color variation or something else? Does the contrasting colored wood have any effect on tone? I enjoy the visual appeal of contrasting wood but am curious as to what this does to tone.
Speaking of multiple caches of guitars. I’m not there yet, but in my other life as an amateur astronomer I’ve been stashing telescopes at my parents place out in Arizona so I could take advantage of their really dark skies. All I had to do was show up with eyepieces and I’d be good to go. So I definitely get it when it comes to spreading your resources around.
Greetings from Ambler, PA
Excellent show I love the lessons, please continue this segment of the hsow. Very informative.

Where to begin… oh, just, nevermind.
Lance Allen is one heck of a guitarist, guitar sounds nice too and are easy on the eye
You say you don’t have any Guitarsenals, you could show the two Georgia Guitarsenals from episode 71 that you talked about but didn’t shop the pictures of.Buy the way,if you do,the pronunciation of Dahlonega,GA is “Da lon a ga”.
I very much enjoy the show especially the artists you mention on each show,I’m about to pull up The Lil’ Smokies on Spotify.
Thanks,
Mike Powell
Dana Bourgeois is not a fan of under saddle pickups because of the importance of saddle and bridge contact. Personally i am a Baggs fan period. Next one i think will be the Lyric model.
Great show again. LJ Williams guitars look great for a deeper dive on and that Lyric pickup sound so good. I actually forgot I was supposed to be listening to it when watching Sierra, it sounded so natural. I look forward to seeing a review by Tony too, once he has got used to it. And of course a review of his lovely new guitar.
Small win: last week I took my moderately agorphobic bride of 34 years to see Billy Strings at the Bottom Lounge in Chicago! We stood for two hours with 500 psychedelic bluegrass fans. Billy tore the house down and we left with a great contact high… not our nomal crowd, but had a great time. Next up, Molly Tuttle in March.
Love the advice, it totally made sense, love it!! Also #smallwin – catching up on the acoustic life podcasts and discovering Johnny Moreland’s music (podcast 011) He is the kind of singer songwriter I aspire to be, Thank you guys for the recommendation!
(Also where is Levi in the most recent podcasts? Banned due to not wearing enough flannel?)
Aloha folks from Kailua , Hawaii ; wishing to express my appreciation for all the wonderful experiences of sharing the World of Guitar Geeks. An everyday blessing that we can -Play it forward Aloha
Hey Tony and Levi! I enjoyed the show as always. I especially liked the segment on L.J. Williams Guitars. So often we limit ourselves to only what we know instead of opening our minds and ears to the possibilities surrounding us. Also, good info shared concerning learning, practicing and rehearsing. Keep up the good work.

you know you’re a guitar geek when
your wife asks why do you have 6 guitars and you answer ” because I don’t have 7′
Tony and Noah,
After watching the show a second time it occurred to me we haven’t heart form Matt. #ASK MATT Can you give a novice some advice on how to store or take care of your guitar; i.e. does it make sence to use the humifiers and should I keep my guitar in a case. I live in Pennsylvania and it gets cold and hot. My grandson will be upset if I mess up his future guitars.
Much Grass,
Howard (Neville Island, PA)
#askmatt I would like a review or opinion on double top guitars and do you have an update on your album.
Maybe there is a drought on Guitarsenals because the link isn’t under the video (at least on my screen it’s not there).
Each Acoustic Life Tuesday I’ve looked for it (last few months) but I’ve never located it.
